179th Independence Day Message

JULY 26, 2026

As we celebrate the 179th Independence Day of the Republic of Liberia, we do so with immense pride, unwavering hope, and steadfast determination.

Our nation’s journey has not been an easy one. Liberia has endured periods of hardship, sacrifice, and adversity that have tested the resilience of our people. Yet through every challenge, the Liberian spirit has remained unbroken. Time and again, we have demonstrated that we are a nation defined not by the obstacles we face, but by the courage with which we rise above them.

As Africa’s oldest independent republic, Liberia occupies a unique and distinguished place in history. Our legacy is one of freedom, perseverance, and leadership. Today, we stand at another defining moment—one that calls on every Liberian, at home and across the diaspora, to unite in building a stronger, more prosperous nation.

Across every sector, we are witnessing renewed momentum. Through strategic partnerships, increased investment, and the unwavering commitment of our people, Liberia is laying the foundation for sustainable economic growth and inclusive national development. Our greatest resource has always been the resilience, ingenuity, and determination of the Liberian people.

As Trade and Investment Commissioner in Canada, I remain committed to strengthening the bridges that connect Liberia with global partners, attracting responsible investment, expanding trade opportunities, and showcasing the tremendous potential our country offers. The world is beginning to recognize what Liberians have always known—that our nation is rich not only in natural resources, but in opportunity, talent, and promise.

This Independence Day, let us renew our commitment to unity, integrity, and service. Let us believe in Liberia’s future with confidence, work together with purpose, and inspire the next generation to dream even bigger.

The road ahead may still present challenges, but our destination is clear. Liberia is rising. We are reclaiming our rightful place as a respected leader on the African continent and an emerging destination for investment, innovation, and opportunity.

Happy 179th Independence Day to all Liberians around the world.

One Nation. One People. One Destiny.
